The next Live Chat in our Future Trends series we discussed critical supply chain issues as a result of the pandemic. As discussed previously, supply chains have become globalized, resulting in a double-edged sword. On the one hand, cheaper products results have resulted in lower inflation over the past couple of decades, making many products more affordable for Americans. On the other hand, it has also cost the U.S. many jobs as manufacturing moved to lower cost labor sources overseas. Now, as a result ofthe pandemic, worldwide supply chains have been disrupted, causing shortages and inflation. Many health care systems have determined they want to source more of their products from U.S. suppliers in the post-pandemic world, but are still heavily dependent on overseas supply chains due to cost constraints.
