Paula is a Financial Planner and Advisor with Stearns Financial Group. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) additional distinction, and a Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Her knowledge of tax, estate, retirement, investments, and insurance planning, as well as niche areas like employee benefits, education, and elder planning, help her empower clients to achieve the best financial outcomes possible.
Paula has a special interest in promoting women’s financial literacy. A key contributor to our Financial Focus for Women initiative, Paula has led workshops on the dangers of women not stepping forward to take a meaningful role in their finances. Additionally, she has written articles for publications like the Triad Business Journal on the unique challenges women face in managing their finances.
Paula also enjoys working with business owners transitioning their businesses. She helps them contemplate different ways to structure the sale and how to maximize the resulting proceeds.
Paula has always enjoyed tackling challenges and employing ingenuity in complex situations for discriminating clients. Her professional experience includes consulting with clients of one of the four largest global accounting firms, a top regional accounting firm and an international consultancy firm with executives within Fortune 100 clients. In her professional experiences to date, there has been nothing more professionally satisfying for her than contributing to the profound impact financial planning and advising can have on helping an individual, couple or family realize their dreams.

Married to a general contractor and home inspector with a restoration and remediation business, Zach, and raising an eleven year old son, Zahn, Paula stays busy with family events outside of work. You will likely find her at her son’s soccer game or robotics practice, playing tennis with a good friend or on a run through the neighborhood on a given weekend.
With a love of real estate investing, a real estate broker’s license and a family with a long history in real estate, Paula particularly enjoys studying and comparing real estate opportunities. She enjoys employing the power of tax and depreciation strategies in real estate investing – as one asset class in a diversified portfolio.
